The Blue Ridge Mountains
Virginia has a lot of mountains. The tallest mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains is Mt. Rogers. It rises 5,729 feet above sea level. The Blue Ridge Mountains is one of the mountain ranges in Virginia. The Blue Ridge Mountains is famous for its plants. In the spring the Dogwood appears and in the fall the leaves turn different colors.
The Appalachian Plateau
The Appalachian plateau is close to where our region is. Our region is the valley and ridge but that’s not what I’m here to tell you about. I’m here to tell you about the Appalachian Plateau. The plateau is not known for big cities. Its main product is even coal; that’s where we get all of our coal from. The plateau is one of the highest plateaus in Virginia. Its Indian language group is Iroquoian. Someday I hope to go and explore the Appalachian plateau and learn more and more about it each day.
The Tidewater
The Tidewater region is flat low-lying, and crisscrossed with deep wide rivers.
I am going to the Tidewater to visit Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach.
Piedmont
Piedmont is the FFV [First Family of Virginia].The commonwealth of Virginia claims to the Northwest Territory [Ohio, Indiana, Illinois].Until World War II you could make an educated guess about a person’s original home in Virginia by observing their distinctive accents. The Piedmont has lots of rolling hills and agriculture. Hampton roads can be split into the eastern shore. The leading crops include tobacco and peanuts. Rivers are filled with freshwater fish including trout, bass, and pickerel. Richmond and Charlottesville are major cites in this region.
Valley & Ridge
When you go to the Valley & Ridge Region you will see mountains, valleys caverns and fertile soil. There were 2 types of people there; the German and Scotch-Irish. The industries are farming (livestock, apple & other fruit orchards, poultry.) The poultry is chicken & Turkey. Products are poultry, and apples. On the east side there is the Blue Ridge Mountains, and on the west side you have Allegheny (Appalachian) Mountains. You also have the Shenandoah Valley the Indian Name is “clear eyes daughter of the stars”. The cities are Winchester, Roanoke, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Lexington, Bristol, and Pulaski.
